We believe that all pupils can achieve in Design Technology; that high-quality DT lessons will provide our children with the opportunity to use their imagination, to design and make products within a variety of contexts, to provide motivation and meaning to their learning ensuring that they are well-prepared for the challenges of Design Technology at Key Stage 3.
Our Design Technology curriculum provides planned opportunities for our children that emphasise discussion, exploration and debate with plentiful opportunities for children to demonstrate their growing technical knowledge and skills in a variety of ways.
Children will be taught a range of experiences including: mechanisms, textiles, cooking and nutrition, structures and electrical systems (in Key Stage 2). Through hands-on, practical experiences we aim for children to leave Year 6 with knowledge and skills of DT which will inspire children to be chefs, engineers, carpenters, designers and architects. We will recognise the important role of DT in preparing our children with skills for life which will enable them to be creative individuals as they become active learners, active leaders and active citizens.
